The Winter Festival Half pipe Comp at Coronet Peak
Whoa! What the hell is going on with the weather here in New Zealand. Thursday night saw a huge rainfall in Queenstown and unfortunately it pissed down up the mountain as well. Event organisers decided for the best that the 1/2 Pipe event would be postponed until Sunday. The idea been that it would give a bit of time for conditions to improve on the hill.
Sunday has come around and it seems the weather gods have it in for us..organisers pulled the pin and the 1/2 Pipe event is officially cancelled. Not such a good note to end the winter festival week on but the opinion of many would be competitors was that after such a huge week of patying it was probably not the best idea to hurl themselves down a dodgy Pipe anyway.

But believe me the Winter Festival is charging on in fine style. The photos to the left were taken on Mardi Gras night which saw central Queenstown turn into one massive street party. Live bands, mega mulled wine and food stalls entertained the crowd. As the evening progressed and the family element drifted off the scene evolved into one giant downtown Party. The music got louder and the dancing in the street more frenzied..an awesome scene.

A good night had by all..... who cares that there is no snow anyway!
