August 26: Southern Lakes Regional Champs
Prime Alpine Racing at Coronet Peak:
Day 1 of the Pulsate Southern Lakes Regional Champs and almost 60 hard booters gathered to prove their need for speed and that Alpine racing is alive and well in New Zealand. Unfortunate though that the kiwi contingent was far out numbered by Japanese and Korean riders. This event an important qualifier for the upcoming nationals saw N.Z's fastest boarders trying to beat some very fast foreigners. These included the Japanese team and Canadian Junior David Vaughn ranked 2nd in the world.
The conditions were perfect with blue sky, hard packed snow and a world class course set down the front of Coronet Peak.
