The CHILL Series kicked into full swing @ Temple Basin over the weekend. Sanctioned by the International Free Skier Association NZ (IFSA NZ) two events were held @ Temple. On Saturday night, with the help of lights & 25cms of fresh snow, 30 keen riders competed in the Briko Funkstyle Air. Hamish Acland of the Cardrona Freeride Team won the male skier section with local Temple Basin rider Courtney Suckling was 2nd & Sam Masters from nzski.com 3rd. Marja Person on Telemarks won the women's section, Martha Burley from Fernie, Canada was 2nd and CHILL rider Kim Ross was 3rd. The snowboarding section was won by CHILL rider Greg Roebuck, 2nd was Chris Kirkman from Wanaka 2nd and 3rd was Vern Thomson based @ Temple Basin. Amanda Power riding for Oxygen & CHILL won the women's section.

The Second event on Sunday was the Dynastar Freeriding comp run in lower Bills Basin. 25 competitors were put to the test with fresh yet challenging snow, chilly weather conditions and BIG mountain terrain. Each rider chose their fall line within set terrain boundaries - including rock drops and chute riding. They were judged on their line choice, control, fluidity, technique & aggressiveness. Winner of the Womens skiing section was Mayan Smith- Gobat from Queenstown, 2nd was Hanna Fox who is based @ Porter Heights and 3rd Martha Burley competing on Telemarks. In the males skiers section Todd Windle CHILL & Atomic rider was 1st, 2nd was Sam Masters and 3rd equal was Alex Herbert riding for nzski.com & Dynastar + Ross Janzen from Fernie, Canada. Naked skiing @ Temple Basin is not a mith - go Courtney!! Local CHILL Rider Ryan Sisarich and Roger Goodman were 1st equal in the Snowboarding section with 1999 CHILL Series winner - Ryan Grice 3rd.

This week the CHILL Series moves onto Mt Olympus, with the Briko Rider X (head to head racing) on Wednesday and the second Dyanstar Freeriding Comp on Thursday. On Saturday 2nd Sept the Dynastar Slopestyle is @ Mt Hutt - sanctioned by the IFSA NZ & open to skiers & snowboarders. For Information call CHILL 03 318 7331.
