Thumbs up New Zealand?
Just looking for some advice bout' New Zealand.

Im a Canadian ski/snowboard instr. from the rockies..fernie!!...teaching in Asia right now.

Which mountain in NZ is the place to be. THe north Island seems to be pretty dope, mostly because they recieve the most snow.

But for the best snow, best vibe, and most clients.....can anyone please recomened a place to spend the season....cuz Australia sounds pretty wack for riding.

peace

QT for commercialism including lots of night life/babes - (Coronet & Remarkables & now Cardrona is closer due to upgrading crowns range road)

Wanaka for layed back approach smaller town but still thrives (Treble Cone & Cardrona)

Christchurch for Mt Hutt and a City near by.

Ohakune good rocking town (North Island) for Ruapehu.

I recommend Queenstown, you have to go there, it represents NZ well.

Sorry don't have a really good Qt shot on my PC, so took this from kiwinewz.com - hope they dont mind?

queenstown is too commercialised, too expensive and too upmarket, also, its two mountains don`t really compare to the wanaka slopes - treble cone and cardrona and the snowpark. i guess as far as freeridin goes you gotta give it to treble cone. cardrona has sweet pipe, park and all round facilities and if you`re into freestylin then the snowpark has a good range of transitions and rails... if you stay in wanaka you are guaranteed cheaper accommodation, and better crews.

That's tight ya'll. Thanks for all the info!

Queenstown sounds to be more my type of lifestyle. To answer Jamus I teach high end skiing and entry level riding. Im a level two skiing' and 1 snowboarding.

Been teaching through out Canada, Europe, asia...and can't wait to rock down to NZ.

anyother advice would be much appreciated.

peace.

if ya think about it, queenstown is not exactly well facilitated for snowboarding. although wanaka is not as commercialised, the mountains are all sic. treble cone has possibly some of the best freeriding in new zealand, cardrona has the best pipe facilities in nz, and the snowpark is all geared up with rails, 1/4s and hips...

Snowpark
If you believe the snow park website (http://www.snowparknz.com), they will have plenty of manmade snow this year - even if they don't get the goods from huey.
Heres hoping as it would be a shame any other way.

Problem is the temperature, they had snow there last season and then it melted. Then they had some more snow, and yep you guessed it, it melted again! No man made snow machines can help that very much.

Huey????
