The recent storm cycle has brought new snow to Treble Cone. Snow has fallen well below car park level overnight and 20 + cm has been recorded at the base area with further snow on the upper mountain.
With snowmaking in place all night, the natural snow has been amplified by the Treble Cone snowmaking crew. Snowmaking began last week, 10 June. The new snow conditions mean the new Pisten Bully Winch Groomer will be on the slopes by this afternoon.
Marketing Manager, Kim Manunui, said “the new snow is what everyone has been waiting for”. Treble Cone has been extremely busy over the summer months with preparations for winter. $2.5 million has been invested in facility improvements for winter 2003 and snow is the final element. Preparations are in the final stages, the new bar and café, retail and rental areas are ready for opening. The new Magic Carpet and Winch Groomer are ready to go and staff have been undergoing training this week.
Although scheduled to open 19 June, we are currently in the middle of the storm cycle, more snow is forecast and Treble Cone will be making a decision on opening towards the end of the week.
