Perfect day, atmosphere unbelievable.
The terrain park crew built a huge 20ft 1/4 and the riders got together
in true kiwi form before kick off to help build a tombstone in the
middle - with a rail set up to jib on the run back out.
The riding itself was sick - some of the best riders in the country
pushing the buttons like demons possessed. Will Jackways and his japanese
counterpart Yatto Yashino were busting 15ft above the platform and
tieing for highest air, with Yatto taking best trick throwing a reverse
michael chuck at 12ft out - just imagine the view back down to the
bottom at 35ft above the crowd. Aaron Jamieson took out 1st overall;
constant fat-ness and a mixed big of tricks including a backside 900
to pull the crowd cheers. 2nd was Ants Lefflear and 3rd was Deni Bevan.
The womens was Debs O'Hagen inverting with flawless 180 cripplers
stomped clean. 2nd Hana Sullivan and 3rd Sarah Parker. Oddy took the
guest skiing out with young Andy Clarke right behind him throwing
mad stuff down. Everyone deserves a mention!
All in all it was the day - blue skies, tee shirts, great beats and
Master Poulder on the mc - grins all round, sunscreen and the stoke
and feeling of a pressureless kicker session in the mountains with
friends, in true snowboard style - be there next year!
