GL : Left
Mt Baker, first stop back in vancouver to visit Hutchy and picked
up some supplies and caught some early morning heavyweight boxing
on the box. and yeh, it only lasted 3 rounds. Back on the road, conditions
were pretty hard out with snow, ice, rain so it took a lot longer
than expected. about 8hrs hard on the road and we still weren't at
Red Mtn, so we stopped and spent the night at Osoyoos in a little
motel right by the lake. We all had a big sleep in. That was super
sweet - we all needed it after heaps of early starts at Baker.
3 hours on the road and we were in Rossland, the town at the base
of Red Mtn. We were there 30 mins, had a feed of cheap chinese, and
I walked into the snowboard shop and who was behind the counter but
one of my NZ buddys Crosby Web. Its a small world. Crosby and the
Whangamata crew and Greg Roebucks hooked us up with a place to stay
and good feeds - sweet as.
It was up early for a bit of fresh for our first day at Red, we went
straight to the top and off for a hike up Mt Roberts. We rode some
nice pillow drops outback until the weather came in. Went home and
refuelled, the weather came good again about 7:30pm so it was time
for a night rail sesh. We found a sketchy wooden rail down some stairs.
Shot that for a couple of hours - it was fun but pretty sketchy.
The next day we were riding again, variable conditions and a bit sloppy
snow. The boys rode hard till lunch, Jamie had a tough encounter with
the chairlift, elbow swelled up like a golf ball with his reoccurring
case of hematoma. So some of the boys were off to Trial hospital to
check out the nurses, oh and an elbow. I kept riding, had a super
fun day getting the tour from G.Roebucks. Down some sketchy shutes
on the face called the microwave. it was sick - heaps of fun lines
all day. Cheers boys wicked hookups.
