After the day at Nakiska we hooked up with Jeff Patterson
(SnowPark), took us into Canmore to show us this rail and the school.
It was big and blue but there wasnt much snow about, it was late in
the day so we decided to came back the next day. After hanging out
in Calgary, played some vid games, had a feed and got charmed by a
bellydancer. back to Canmore to set up the rail, grabbed a dropin
ramp off this kid from across the road, filled up some rubbish bags
with snow and made the dropin and small landing. The dropin was on
the left side of the rail, kinda hard for me to get on but Jake had
it sweet. Had a few 50/50, boardslides but not the whole hog. I slammed at the bottom in
a big puddle, got gravel in my base and a wet ass. Jake scratched
up his board too but he did get it. Heads up JK! Check out the full
deal on 'The
Dream'.
JB :
It had been a clear night after a sunny yesterday, so no rush to
get up. We headed up to Sunshine Village, but were denied due to
our lateness, so off to Norquay it was. Passed the local welcome
party of roadside goats on the way up - I thought we were in Banff
not NZ. Anyway, Norquay had a nice park to jib, located at the bottom
of the hill accessed by a quad. Heaps of runs in the park and pipe.
Sweet! There were heaps of rails, a hip that needed a bit more shaping,
as with the big table and its landing, a kink box, rainbow, crazy
S rail, mellow camel and a new crazy double C which Legs did a boardslide
to nose and tail slide.
Went up the double chair to checkout the scenic vistas. You could
see the whole of Banff. Awesome views, pics taken. But the ride
down was madness, super mogul field, ice and bumps. If you get up
there on a pow day, it would be sick - steep and fast. Had a snack,
then back up for some one hitters in the pipe, popin out in the
last little bit of sunlight to end the day.
