Saturday June 19th: The Kiwi season kicks off in awesome form:
These photos were all taken on Saturday 15th June, an awesome day in the mountains:
Season kicks off in style: This weekend has seen one of the best June days of boarding for many years. Mt Hutt locals have been fizzing with the Mountain covered in up to a meter of snow. Further South Treble Cone opened today looking very good after the recent snow. Cardrona is now rushing to train up staff pushing for an open date of the 24th....LET IT SNOW AGAIN PLEASE!
More snow is forecast:
Again the forecast is for an even colder front to hit the South Island by Wednesday with the prospect of snow to sea level. "The early indications are that it could be potentially severe...one of those cold snaps that occur every couple of years!" Check out the
forecast map here!
Mt Potts New Zealand prepares for a super season in 1999 - 27 April 1999
More exciting news from New Zealand is the
opening of a new Cat and Heli Boarding operation at Mt Potts on the South Island of
NZ. The location of the Burton 1998/99 Product Catalogue shoot, Mt Potts is the
highest snow field in NZ and receives about 11 metres (35 feet) of snow per year.
There is not a single groomed run at the field and has a smaller capacity for guests than
a school bus. This results in incredible Cat and Heli accessed terrain and you never
having to cross another riders tracks. Check out the Mt Potts web site for more details or contact them personally:

Treble Cone New Zealand in the mood for Super Park - 27 April 1999
The big news for those who intend on visiting the New Zealand resort of Treble
Cone is that the resort management have employed the expert services of Jim Mangan from
Buttermilk Colorado to design their 1999 Snowboard Park. Hetty Van Hale of Treble
Cone said "We're hoping to build the best terrain park in New Zealand this
winter". If things go as planned, Treble Cone will become one of the best all round
resors in New Zealand this winter.
