Wednesday 14th July:
The Pipeline Boarder X kicks off is style:
those boys drive me wild!!
Coronet Peak hosts the first real event of the N.Z snowboard season...and what a turnout. Just over 100 competitors lined up for the Pipe Line Boarder X, the first in a six week series.

Perfect conditions and blue sky was the order of the day for riders, heaps of spectators and of course mega media in town for Festival week.

Starting at the top of the triple chair the course took full advantage of this seasons great snow coverage. "A real test of endurance" was the race favourite Deni Bevin's comment. With it's banked turns, table top jumps and rough off piste snow the course was not forgiving.

After a long afternoon of racing and a very close final local rider Aaron Jamison took first place followed by Aussie instructor Anthony Crute and Kiwi hardbooter Greg Prouse in third place.
