Friday 16th July: The Winter Festival Half Pipe
New Zealands first major Pipe competition of the season enticed a who's who of N.Z boarding to strut their stuff in Queenstown. A very cold windy day on Coronet Peak, but the Pipe was in A-1 condition. Coronet Peak's recent investment in a pipe groomer is paying off with many commenting it was one of the best competition pipes ever.
Sixty riders fought it out in the elimination rounds cutting to the final 8 world class riders.
Dylan Butt N.Z's current champ stood out with Massive McTwists ...unfortunately landing only one.
Eventual winner Aaron Jamison of Queenstown was technically very solid, perhaps a little conservative, but impressed the judges and the crowd. He was followed by Quentin Robbins of methven and ..
Crowd favourite had to be 3rd place getter Ste'en Webster old school legend proving he still has what it takes.
Julianne Bray stood out well ahead of the other women to take 1st followed by Suzy Parker and Viki Course.
