Saturday 17th July: The Winter Festival Big Air Comp at Coronet Peak:
Bring some Burton Pro Riders to N.Z..add the best of the Kiwi crew, a huge jump and a great band!
What do you get ???? One huge Party!
The grand finale for the Winter Festival took place under lights up at the Peak with the huge crowd rocking to Auckland band Stella and witnessing some insane jumps.. Earlier in the day hopefuls lined up in the elimination series to be allowed to compete in this premiere event. Twenty Five riders competed tonight wanting to impress the judges. Two runs each and then a cut to the top eight and then cut to four and then the final two. The crowd went wild as the final became a USA / N.Z competition. Local boy Aaron Jamison footing it with the best in the world on his own turf. Jamo did his best with a Backside 720 indy and a switch rodeo, But ultimately was beaten by Jason Borgstedes backside tailgrab 720 with perfect stomped landings.
Also making it through to the final 4 were locals Deni Bevin and Joel Westcott. After tonights event it is obvious that the standard of N.Z snowboarding is getting better every year and we can certainly foot it with the best in the world. Good Work!
