    By me here!

  • Queenstown Remarkables Spring Festival
    September 20th 1998:

The annual spring Festival has been held up at the Remarkables over the last 3 days.. The final day of events saw 25 competitors line up for the crowd pleasing Columbia Splash for Cash.

Spurred on by the cheering and snowball throwing of a 300+ crowd the crazy competitors flew off a snow ramp, flying into the coldest pool of water imaginable.

With $1000 in cash up for grabs it was all go to impress the judges..and of course we were there to catch the enevitable nudity.

The top prize went to Dunedin Skier Pierre Tapper who performed a perfect double back flip wearing only his shorts and ski's.
Second place went to Scottie Taylor of Te Anau getting big air sporting only an apron and a grin..once again on ski's.
Third place went to Queenstown's Miles Holden who tried to gain extra speed from flares attached to his skis, but incurred some wind resistance from a huge pair of artificial breasts..

All three finalists were skiers so it seems that for today, the boarders were not up to the job of been that insane..good work!
