Awesome action in the Northwave Half Pipe..
Aucklander Dylan Butt retains his title as New Zealands Northwave Halfpipe Champion. The 21-year-old was the clear winner of the
senior mens division following five rounds of tough competition in Cardrona Alpine Resorts monster halfpipe.
In the senior womens division, 24-year-old Wellingtonian Suzy Parker seized the title from last years champion, Juliane Bray. In
the junior mens division, Arrowtowns Nick McBride (18) is the new champion while 14- year-old Sita Wills of Wanaka took the
junior womens title.
Twists, inverted manoeuvres and rail grabs from some 130 competitors in the Northwave Halfpipe snowboard competition delighted a 500
strong crowd who packed the sides of the halfpipe.
Leaping up to two metres above the three metre high halfpipe, competitors displayed their best aerials and tricks in front of a panel of five judges and a massive crowd of vocal supporters.
After two perfect days of weather the comp was held under grey threatening skies..clearing with patches of blue for the final runs.
