NZ Snowboard Nationals 1997
Slope Style
CARDRONA  NEW ZEALAND  Thursday September 4th.

4:30pm N.Z.
Today was the 4th and final event of the Nationals for 1997 up at Cardrona. The 540's Slopestyle was held in the terrain park off the top of the double chair. The weather was perfect and the snow conditions hard packed.

This event was easily the most spectacular of the week and attracted a huge number of spectators lining the course. With blue sky, sunshine, cranking tunes, and huge airs, it made for an awesome days entertainment. The course was made up of a series of huge jumps with the judges awarding points for each maneuver successfully pulled off. The standard of riding was exceptionally high with some unbelievably good airs pulled off by the winner Quentin Robbins, he was followed by Aaron Jamieson and Olly Burke in third.
In the girls section it was once again a Japanese rider, Ayako Hashimoto setting the standard followed by Kiwi Juliane Bray and then Canadian Josiane in third. The juniors showed that the standard of riding in N.Z is improving each year as these guys were ripping. First place Logan Williams followed by Sam Deavoll and Crosby Webb.
