Southern Lakes Regionals, Coronet Peak , August 25th
Definitely one of the best comp pipes I have seen in NZ. A good high level of riding shown by all The whole event seemed too run very smoothly Judging was OK after some things were ironed out.

This was the last chance to qualify for the NZ nationals (also this at Coronet Peak) Women's field was in good form, utilizing the sweet transitions for solid straight airs and good 360 and 540 rotations.

"Men's rounds were getting rather heated with several competes crashing in their final runs. This was a good indication that people were riding out of their comfort zone and pushing them selves to the limit."

Juniors seem to go bigger every comp, standouts to me where Jah H Mitch Brown Jacob Coier? Men's rounds were getting rather heated with several competes crashing in their final runs. This was a good indication that people were riding out of their comfort zone and pushing them selves to the limit.

Having Rob Johnstone from the 'Snowboard Workshop' was a big help. Rob was on hand to fine tune southern lakes riders boards before each run. As there was still new dry snow in the pipe having a primo wax job made it much easer to fly high.

Tricks thrown in the comp were Big inverts (Mctwists, heave-hos and rodeos) 540 and 720 flat spins and huge straight airs oozing with style.

Some other key thing that made this, for me one of the funist pipe events to date were the trusty Qtown weather, sweet beats provided by Mike Morgan and the thing that makes all good pipe comps the pipe from hell.!

HALF PIPE RESULTS:

3 Dylan Butt Queenstown

WOMEN
